Mike Buckley

Goaltending Coach for the Pittsburgh Penguins
Mike Buckley is the founder and head instructor of GDS. Mike spent 5 seasons as goaltending coach for the University of Massachusetts-Amherst. Following UMass, Mike was the goaltending coach for the UNH Wildcats that reached #1 in the National ranking. Mike is the head goaltending coach for the 2016/2017 Stanley Cup Champion Pittsburgh Penguins and assist USA Hockey in evaluating and coaching at USA Hockey's Strelow program.
Mike Buckley has over a dozen professional clients/students, instructs over 50 college goaltenders, and has helped produce several NHL draft picks, and many division 1. scholarship goaltenders. This is a testament to their hard work and commitment to training. From 2013-2019 26 long time GDS students received Division 1. commitments.
Coach Buckley also consults for leading sports management groups, equipment manufacturers and other goalie coaches in North America and Europe.

Steve Mastalerz

Goaltending Coach for The Northeast Generals, NAHL

Steve, a long time student of Mike Buckley, played youth hockey for Top Gun before heading off to Kimball Union Academy where he was one of prep school hockey's best goaltenders. Following KUA, Steve received a scholarship at UMass-Amherst where he made an immediate impact as a freshman and a leader. Steve serverd as the goaltending coach in the LA Kings organization for the Manchester Monarchs in the ECHL for the 2016/2017 and 2017/2018 seasons. During his tenure the Monarchs reached the conference finals, and second round of the playoffs.
In four years at UMass, Mastalerz appeared in 77 and logged a 3.12 goals-against average and a .894 save percentage. The North Andover, Mass., native posted 20 wins and four shutouts, which ranks fourth in program history, while his career saves total (1,953) is fifth all-time in the UMass record book.Mastalerz, a five-time Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week in his career, set UMass' Division I single game saves record, sixth-most in NCAA history, with 75 stops in the Minutemen's five overtime victory at Notre Dame this past March 6, in the Hockey East Tournament. Following UMass, Steve joined the LA Kings organization and joined the Manchester Monarchs of the AHL, being part of their Calder Cup run and capturing the teams first Calder Cup.

Brian Foster joins the GDS staff after being a student of coach Buckley for over 10 years. Brian, a Pembroke, New Hampshire Native, has been through the process of playing local junior hockey, college hockey and professional hockey including the NHL. Foster was an All-American at UNH and draft pick of the Florida Panthers and has spent the last six seasons playing professionally in the ECHL, AHL and NHL. Brian brings a ton of experience and knowledge to the GDS staff. Brian recently retired after playing for the Pittsburgh Penguins organization and was recently inducted into the New Hampshire Hockey Hall of Fame.

Joe spent 5 years playing high school hockey, first at Foxboro High School as an 8th grader, then 4 years for Boston College High School. While at BC High, he won the 2002 Super 8 tournament, was named a Catholic Conference All-Star twice, named to both the Boston Globe and Boston Herald All Scholastic Dream Teams twice, was HNIB’s Top Goaltender and won the 2004 USA Hockey Midget National Championship as a member of the Greater Boston Jr Bruins. Following BC High, Joe spent two years in the USHL playing for the Waterloo Blackhawks before matriculating to Dartmouth College where he was part of the 2007 Ivy League champions.
Joe has spent the last three seasons as goalie coach for the women’s team at Harvard University, where they lead the NCAA in team save percentage in 2018-19, while racking up multiple ECAC and Ivy League awards.

Jamie Regan

Jamie` a native of Chagrin Falls, Ohio where he grew up playing for the Cleveland Barons. After the Barons he made the tough decision to play high school hockey for University School where he went to the frozen four, three out of his four years. Winning it all his junior year. Following high school he played two years for the Philadelphia Revolution in the Eastern Junior Hockey league. Jamie was named to the EJHL All-Star team in the 2012 season. From there he committed to the University of New Hampshire for the 2012-13 season. While at UNH Regan appeared in 9 games, receiving most of his time senior year where he had a 2.87 GAA and a .907 SV%.
Jamie trained with Mike Buckley through out his college career gaining valuable insight on not only how to train hard but also right. Regan joins the team with a vast knowledge of the position and the game, he is excited to continue his hockey career in the coaching world.
